Vegan BBQ! Yum!

So, I attended the vegan barbecue event hosted by Figueroa Produce and Plant Food for People. Figueroa Produce had a menu full of Match Meat goodness and Plant Food for People served up their Jackfruit (carnita) tacos. Yum is all I have to say. I've been dying to try these infamous jackfruit tacos and find out if they taste as good as they look. Well, they do! I tried all five different toppings and each one was as delicious as the others. I was so stuffed half way through eating these things and was very grateful to have my husband's help finishing them off. We made our way over to Figueroa Produce's side and my husband ordered a Hak Burger which includes daiya cheese and bacon. I took a bite and nearly drooled on myself. They also had samples of their very scrumptious Match Meat stuffed chicken. Drinks were served outside in a cooler or inside the store. There was limited seating but other people seemed find standing. It was very hot outside so we didn't stay long, but overall, the event was very nice and I look forward to their next one.

So, last night I had an amazing date night with the hubby-licious. After seeing a really great film I was starving and felt like I could eat my own arm...but I contained myself and waited to see where we were going. My hubby surprised me with a dinner trip to Shojin. Woo Hoo! I've been dying to check this place out so I was super excited when we arrived. I so wanted to do a video blog of this place but since it was a surprise I didn't have my video cam with me...but I definitely will next time I go...and there will be a next time! This place was exactly what I hoped it would be. The decor is lovely and you feel so cozy in this place...it's cute in size (not too big, not too small)...and I loved the atmosphere, you can tell that people are really enjoying themselves at Shojin. Vegan BBQ on Saturday!

I'm so excited for the Figueroa Produce's barbecue on Saturday. They will be serving Match Meat burgers, chicken, and crabcakes...mmm...Match Meat crabcakes are off the hook! (Stay tuned for my video of me making some crabcakes).  Plant Food for People will be there handing out their carnita (jackfruit) tacos and I'm super excited to try them. Oh the joy of Vegan Seafood!

I'm so happy to share with you this video about my amazing discovery of vegan sea food. If you know me well, then you know that sea food was a struggle for me to give up but God is good and has helped me to find this yummy product.




UPDATE:  I tried the breaded calamari and it was Delicious!

Veggie Gyoza

One of my favorite things to order when I go to a Japanese restaurant is gyoza. I love the greasy deep fried crunch of it and the sauce just makes it even more wonderful. After the gym last night I picked up some veggie gyoza from Trader Joe's along with some of their yummy dipping sauce. Take a look and salivate over this crunchy goodness.

Black Bean Veggie Burger Goodness

I attended my sister-in-law's birthday dinner last night at Big Wangs. Okay, so Big Wangs isn't exactly the best place to eat when you're a vegan but I made it work. I checked out the menu and thankfully they have a black bean veggie burger. It comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, a guacamole sauce, and a side of fries. I, of course, got it without the cheese and dove right in. The burger was really good. The black bean patty had a nice spice to it and I was so thankful that I didn't have to be left out of the junkie goodness of Big Wangs.
